Assessment Models...
Of course, the possibilities are endless but, the truth is that, given today's pressures and needs, most schools will want the following.
There's no 'rocket science' here but the devil is in the detail!
A Tracking System ...
No doubt about it, if you have nothing else, you must of a system that tracks the progress of the students in your school.
Only then, can you ensure that staff can identify and react to individual needs and that leadership can make decisions that can actually affect teaching and learning.
Your tracking system will measure current level or current forecast for the key stage at termly intervals and these measures will provide a basis for action by all the stakeholders.

Your tracking system may or may not be as elaborate as this but it will still provide you with everything that you need to act.
And of course, if you're looking over your shoulder, with the means to prove that you're acting!
Termly Interim Reports ...
Part of raising attainment, is affecting attitudes to learning and its not going to be much good if you measure and report on these at the end of the year. Effort, behaviour, homework all impact on eventual performance so, ignore these and you will be missing the point. If you want to have a chance to change these, you need to monitor and report on these regualrly and termly 'interim reports' provide a manageable and doable way to achieve this.
Full Annual Reports ...
These seem to happen because of tradition- "we've always done these"- or because of statutory obligations and the result is not always guaranteed to have an impact on teaching and learning.
Developed as part of the overall scheme, a=nnual reports can contribute the the consistency of the school's assessment (ie reporting on and valuing the same things that are assessed and reported at other times of year) and provide a basis for raising standards.
